Write Outline

An outline is usually written before submitting an essay or thesis. The professors specifically ask you to write outline for any essay or topic you have prepared. This is very important and useful as you understand what is in the essay while you write an essay outline. Outlines show how the topics are arranged, the importance of the topics and an understanding of the various parts in a topic.
You can write outline before you prepare a speech, a chapter, a research paper etc. When you write a speech outline first of all decide upon the topic and gather enough material from books, magazines, newspapers or the internet. The same procedure can be adopted while you write a research paper outline. Collect all the research materials, introduction and tips that could be given.
When you have to write chapter outline, you have to read through the chapters and assess them. When I write my outline for a thesis, I always see that the first sentence is my topic sentence also. There are different ways to write an outline. You can write outline using the topic outline method and the sentence outline method. When you write outline using the topic outline method, only single words are used for the headings and when you write an outline using the sentence outline method you write headings in complete sentences.
When you write a paper outline, number your ides in a roman letter. All major ideas or chapters can be numbered and written in a consecutive order. When you write outline, you can arrange the parts of a subject in many ways, either chronological or spatial. The most common form followed to write outline is to go from a general idea to a specific example. Write outline leaving lots of white spaces between chapters so that it is legible. Also you can write the chapters in bold letters to make it more attractive.
An outline should explain the contents in it. It should be brief and without any grammatical errors. The outline should be interesting and catchy so that the reader wants to go through the entire subject. You can write essay outline based on four headings as Introduction, Thesis, Body, and Conclusion. Under the term 'Body', you can show different chapters under different heading in bold letters followed by subdivisions under each chapter. Whenever you write outline for research paper, always choose a topic that is interesting and challenging. Your interest towards the topic will help you write an outline that innovative and catchy.
